Los Cuatro Vientos is an international, bilingual, four-piece musical ensemble based in Tucson and Phoenix, Arizona. Established in 2008, Los Cuatro Vientos is composed of highly accomplished musicians in the mariachi style but offers much more than a standard mariachi. Each of the musicians is proficient in more than one instrument broadening the artistic capabilities of this group which has its roots firmly planted in Mexican tradition.
Los Cuatro Vientos creatively blends other musical influences into its repertoire allowing new outlets for artistic expression and experimentation. Additionally, the group has a unique Mexican-American perspective and often uses its music to address current events, especially those pertinent to the border regions.
Although Los Cuatro Vientos has only been established for a relatively short time, the members have worked well over 14 years together in other groups and venues. Audiences everywhere have given acclamation to the group’s members for their unique vocal styles and story-telling capabilities. Although each member can stand strongly as an individual singer, the group’s technique is evident when the musicians blend their voices in rich and colorful harmonies. Needless to say, the lasting camaraderie is a binding force which the group attributes for its many successes in such a short period of time.
